The show at the Loveland Museum in Colorado is open to all AWA members and includes a $10,000 Grand Prize Cash Award in addition to approximately $20,000 in other cash and merchandise awards. Nicki Traikos has been an artist at heart her entire life. The mediums may have changed greatly over the years, but the goal has always been the same to have the courage to try, and to find joy in the moments exploring. Known best for her watercolour paintings, Nicki has a casual and approachable philosophy about making art and inspires other artists to adopt it too. Nicki also enjoys photographing and capturing moments with her phone while travelling that will then inspire her next painting, class, and even book.

The AWA Board of Directors is an incredibly qualified and generous group of people from various professional backgrounds who volunteer their time, passion and resources to support AWA's mission and strategy while sharing great accomplishments and memories together!
We are looking to fill up to 3 seats to replace members who will finish their service over the next two years. Ideally, we would like new members to begin this fall. Members serve two-year terms up to a total of six years before cycling off.

AWA's Executive Director Sandra Harris is moving on to a new role after serving AWA for almost three years. She is leaving big shoes to fill; she is also leaving AWA well positioned for a successful future.
During her tenure, Sandra has ushered AWA into an era of digitalization of our records and initiated new processes that help us run like a well-oiled machine. Some of her greatest contributions have been the selection and implementation of a new database that:
· Manages our membership records and activities
· Generates invitations, renewals, communications
· Tracks membership levels as well as
· Member show and event participation and awards earned
· Documents fundraising success and much more.
Converting us to this new system was a significant and impactful transition for AWA that helps to document our history moving forward. In addition, she initiated new agreements with several of our contracted services, leading to greater efficiencies and better representation of our financial records and position.
Sandra led us forward out of the COVID period, heading our first two live shows and events at Brookgreen Gardens and Tubac Center of the Arts. She also ushered in our first live-streamed symposium and a recently launched a series of webinars presented by our own expert members.
We have much to thank you for, Sandra, and we wish you well in your new adventure!
Rest assured that AWA’s Board has engaged in a search for Sandra’s replacement and that a number of highly qualified applicants are being interviewed. We look forward to announcing a new Executive Director in the coming weeks. Sandra has graciously agreed to a transition plan that will allow AWA to continue forward with the Loveland Show in September—we hope to see you there!
